George Joseph Pertuit Sr., a proud U.S. Marine and devoted family man, was married for 62 years to the love of his life,Shirley May Troxler, before her passing in 2016. Their marriage was rooted in love, strength, and resilience. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, George was the son of the late John Howard Pertuit of Donaldsonville, Louisiana, and Marguerite Hebert Vinet of White Castle, Louisiana. He was lovingly raised by his mother and stepfather, James Manuel Vinet Sr., who played a meaningful role in his life. He was preceded in death by his sister, Pearl Bealer, and his brother, John Pertuit Sr. He is survived by his brother, James “Jimmy” Vinet Jr. George served honorably in the United States Marine Corps from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean War and was a proud member of VFW Post 3750 in Luling, Louisiana. Before his military service, he was drafted to play professional baseball for the Hazleton Dodgers, a minor league affiliate of the Brooklyn Dodgers, in 1950 - a memory he cherished for life. He went on to build a successful career as a Superintendent at Gold Bond Building Products in Westwego, Louisiana, where he was respected for his leadership and strong work ethic .George was a devoted father of four and is survived by his children: Mandy Delgado (Dino), Sally McEntee (Billy), George J. Pertuit Jr. (Saul), and Jay A. Pertuit, Sr. (Yvonne). He was a loving grandfather to Wendy, Krissy, Dina, Tiffany, Dean, Daniel, Jay Jr., and Joshua, and a great-grandfather to Logan, Levi, Josh, Tiyana, Dean, Marina, Alyssa, Adyn, Dani, and Braelyn. A man of quiet strength and warm humor, George loved fishing and playing golf, both of which brought him great joy and countless friendships. Known for his skill and passion on the golf course, he was often described as an excellent golfer. He will be remembered not only for his service, talent and accomplishments but for his unwavering love for his family, his community, and his country.
